Vigorous, clump-forming perennial with corm-like rhizomes and narrowly linear, grayish green leaves to 12 inches long.  Large, terminal umbels of fragrant lilac flowers are produced from midsummer to early fall.  It should be grown in well-drained, moderately fertile, humus-rich, loamy soil in full sun.
