The ditch along the road in front of our house remains wet constantly, no matter how dry the weather is, due to the sewerage treatment plants in the neighborhood draining into the ditch.  I wanted to plant things along here that liked standing water, but would look attractive, rather than the weeds that proliferate there.  I chose to put native irises, elephant ears, and pickerel weed. 

It still has rather a "wild" native look, but now has some blooming plants.
