The West side of our house is fairly shaded due to the large number of trees on that side.  I wanted to plant something along the house on that side that would be fairly maintenance free and shade tolerant.  I decided to go with hydrangeas and ferns combined.

Although they are small now, I expect the hydrangeas and ferns to fill in nicely along this side of the house.
